LAURA J. CONYERS: We accept all types of medical malpractice cases. One of the things that we do before we pursue a claim or before we actually file a claim on behalf of anybody is consult with the appropriate healthcare professional to give us some guidance.
People sometimes may think that one physician or one nurse did something wrong. But in fact, it was a problem that had developed in their care before they even got to that point.
The laws in Indiana are slanted against a patient or a victim of malpractice. And if a person tries to pursue these things on their own, they can often lose their case before they even have a chance to pursue it.
When they initially make contact with our office, most people have felt like they have been harmed by someone that was--that they relied on greatly. But also, there seems to be a lot of doubt in their mind.
And we attempt to answer their questions and provide them with some insight with regard to what's happened and give them guidance as to where we need to go to attempt to make them whole again.
